Man Accused of Firearm Possession and Bomb Threats in Fort Myers

In May of 2025, the Department of Justice announced that a man in Fort Myers was facing federal gun charges. At the same time, local authorities reported that this same individual was facing charges related to several bomb and firearm threats in the area. Sources reported that this defendant had been previously charged with smuggling toxins on the black market, making this one of the most memorable gun cases in Fort Myers history.
Convicted Toxin Smuggler Accused of Firearm Possession and Bomb Threats
In May of 2025, Fort Myers police received a 911 call from a home on Palm Tree Lane. The caller hung up before saying a word, prompting authorities to travel to the residence. When they arrived, they found a man in a “scuffle” with the caller’s daughter. The man was armed, and a hostage situation ensued. Eventually, the defendant dropped his firearm – causing police to move in an attempt to detain him.
It was at this point that the defendant revealed that he had strapped some kind of explosive device to himself. Despite this threat, police managed to detain the man and remove the bombs. This led to a search of the man’s vehicle, which revealed another firearm, silencers, ammunition, and a tactical vest.
Neighbors later reported seeing police raid a nearby home that was rented by the defendant. Authorities presumably found more explosives, as they dug a hole in the backyard and detonated these objects. One neighbor also reported seeing “robots” running around in the backyard. Police later confirmed that they used drones and other devices to raid the defendant’s home.
This Defendant Has an “Extensive” Criminal Record
In 2014, this same individual was arrested at the age of 19 for selling a toxin known as “abrin” on the dark web. His toxin-smuggling activities involved selling the substance to a buyer in London, England. This individual intended to use the poisonous toxin to murder her mother. As a result, the defendant was charged with conspiring to murder a foreign national. He was sentenced to nine years in prison and was denied compassionate release.
As a result of these convictions, the defendant is not allowed to possess a firearm. This means that he will likely face serious consequences for having a firearm. In addition, it is almost certainly a violation of his probation. Although the backstory of this incident might be unique, many felons are charged with possessing firearms each year in Florida.
